The County Engineer is the elected official who is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the county highway system. This includes bridges (on both county and township roads), culverts, signs, guardrails, roadways, and roadside ditches along county roads. In Richland County, this includes 347 miles of roadway and 359 bridges. In addition, the County Engineer oversees the Tax Map Department and the Highway Department and serves as the engineering advisor to all 18 townships in Richland County, when requested.
Adam Gove, PE, PS
Adam was first elected as County Engineer in 2016 and took office on January 2, 2017. He is a graduate of Ohio University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Adam grew up in Shelby and considers himself a life-long Richland County resident, having lived or worked in Richland County for 40-plus years. He currently resides in Weller Township with his wife and four boys.
